CAP works with and within local groups and communities to educate and mobilize them to become pro-active in the defense and advancement of their rights. CAP strives to build and sustain neighborhood consciousness within endangered communities and establish rapid response systems to threats or violation of their rights.
Legal Action Program (LAP)
LAP provides free legal assistance to individuals and groups seeking to assert their economic and social rights or entitlements. It campaigns for the reform or repeal of anachronistic laws and the passage of new laws that facilitate the realization of social and economic rights. LAP also provides legal education aimed at boosting judicial sensitivity to and enforcement of social and economic rights.
Monitoring and Advocacy Program (MAP)
MAP seeks to research, monitor and document economic and social rights practices in Nigeria. Its research aims at identifying the root causes of violations of social and economic rights. It also focuses on exploring and elaborating the core content of each right and developing reliable indicators for measuring the government's performance in the implementation of its obligations within Nigeria's social, economic context.
Policy Advocacy Program (PAP)
PAP explores and utilizes innovative ways to extend and integrate poor and marginalized populations' ideas, knowledge, concerns, goals and priorities into the government's social and economic policy and program decision-making and implementation processes. By broadening individuals' and communities' access to, and building their capacity to advocate for, and implement social and economic policies and programs that affect them, PAP seeks to increase the prospects for purposeful, responsive, inclusive and participatory governance in Nigeria.
